What We Do

We raise awareness of the public about strategies for improving oral health and the link between oral and general health, and risk factors associated with poor dietary choices, all done through oral health education in schools and antenatal settings.

We conduct oral needs assessment among school children and pregnant women, and make referrals as and when need arises.

We conduct workshops for teachers, nurses and midwives to equip them with the basic working knowledge of oral health and how it can be included in their scope of practice.

We advocate for integration of oral health topics into schools’ curricula and into primary health care system as well.

Did you Know?

Untreated teeth decay affect children’s physical and mental development.

Curative treatments are neither a realistic nor sustainable approach to address the burden of oral diseases.

Toothache makes it difficult for kids to concentrate fully on school work and result in absenteeism from school, causing ineffective learning.

Oral diseases are often overlooked among NCDs, when it is a health area that we cannot afford to ignore.

Oral conditions can impair people’s ability to interact with others and can be an obstacle to economic potential and development progress.

Untreated tooth decay in pregnant women is factor for vertical transmission of cavity-causing bacteria from mothers to their offspring.

Scientific research has associated periodontal disease with adverse pregnancy outcomes (preterm and low birth weight babies).
